Building conservation capacity through science and community

The Great Isles Initiative is an emerging conservation initiative focused on capacity building for biodiversity monitoring and conservation education in St. Lucia, West Indies.
Through accessible scientific approaches and community engagement, the initiative aims to support long-term conservation efforts.
Our Projects
Sea Turtle ID
Using photo-identification technology and citizen science observations, we are building a long-term sea turtle identification database for Saint Lucia. Every turtle photo helps us better understand habitat use, movement patterns and population trends.

Coral Reef Monitoring
We combine underwater imagery, photogrammetry and citizen science observations to create detailed 3D reef models and maps that help us monitor coral reef health and detect changes over time.
